New Country Music Sensation Austin Dixon!

Austin Dixson New Country Music Sensation

Originally from Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Austin Dixon has taken a non-traditional route into a country music career. He spent his late teens and early 20s pursuing an education in meteorology, first obtaining his bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma in 2017, then completing his master’s in Atmospheric Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2019. This pursuit was driven by a fascination with tornadoes that began after a historic tornado outbreak in Oklahoma on May 3rd, 1999. When Austin isn’t on the road playing music, he is also currently in the final years of a PhD in Meteorology from the University of Oklahoma. Clearly, country music was not the original path forward. However, it has always been the dream.

In August of 2022, Austin’s covers of various country standards started to go viral on social media. By summer of 2023, he had amassed over 300,000 followers across all platforms and had begun playing venues across the country. With the 2023 release of his EP ‘O-Town,’ a collection of songs dedicated to the small-town life he and his friends grew up in, he made his first official debut as a recording country artist. The song “Would You Stay” from that EP garnered Austin’s first appearance on Spotify’s ‘Fresh Finds Country’ playlist for over 10 weeks. As one media outlet put it, “his music doesn’t sound like Nashville, but it doesn’t feel like Red Dirt either. It’s somewhere perfectly in between.” It spans the gamut of modern rock n’ roll influences infused with the smooth feel of the classic country music from generations past. We call it ROCKY TONK!

Austin has opened for several national acts including Treaty Oak Revival, Sam Barber, Muscadine Bloodline, Bryan Martin, Flatland Cavalry, Wade Bowen, Chancey Williams, Morgan Myles, Rhonda Vincent, Southall, and more.
